Two oil and chemical tankers in the Terntank fleet are to be equipped with Auramarine’s methanol supply systems, the company announced.
Over the course of last year, the outfitter supplied three hybrid tankers (15,000 dwt each) from Terntank with the systems. The two newbuildings are scheduled for delivery from the Jinling shipyard in Yangzhou, China, in January and June 2027. The ships will be equipped with wind-assisted propulsion systems from Econowind and dual-fuel engines that enable operation with MGO, biofuels and methanol. Auramarine will deliver the associated methanol supply systems in April and September 2026.
“We are pleased to announce that Terntank has selected Auramarine as its preferred provider of methanol fuel supply systems for the second time,” said Auramarine CEO John Bergman. “In addition to price and availability, the right bunkering and on-board fueling infrastructure is a key factor in the widespread adoption of future fuels. Today’s agreement confirms that we are on the right track.” Auramarine is committed to supporting the decarbonization of the shipping industry and will continue to innovate to bring new solutions to market that effectively support the energy transition.
Claes Möller, CEO of Tärntank Ship Management, added: “The new vessels underline Terntank’s commitment to sustainable shipping practices and support the industry in achieving its decarbonization goals. The hybrid tanker project, one of the first of its kind, required close collaboration with numerous partners. Based on our positive experience with Auramarine, the choice for the methanol supply system for these new vessels was an obvious one.”
