The Swiss shipping company Nova Marine Carriers, the German shipping company Aug. Bolten and the Spanish company Ership are also taking over the Waterland Terminal in Amsterdam.
Nova Marine, shareholder of Aug. Bolten from Hamburg, has announced that it has jointly acquired “full control of VCK Port Logistics and the associated port facilities, including the Waterland Terminal”. The transaction was handled via the Dutch subsidiary Maja Stuwadoorsgroep B.V..
The facility is described as the only terminal in Europe that allows the loading and unloading of ships “under cover” and can therefore guarantee 24-hour operation in all weather conditions. The Waterland Terminal has three all-weather berths for LoLo and two open berths for RoRo operations. It includes a dehumidifier-equipped warehouse for steel products. Storage facilities are also available for materials such as aluminum, zinc, steel, paper, wood and pulp. In addition, the terminal offers open storage space, for example for RoRo cargo and containers.
The purchase agreement has already been signed with VCK Holding. According to the information provided, VCK Port Logistics (VCK) and other port logistics infrastructures of VCK and its affiliated companies Verenigd Cargadoorskantoor and Waterland Terminal are affected. Together, they intend to continue growth in the general cargo and bulk goods sector, with the management team remaining on board.
In February 2025, the Nova-Bolten-Ership partnership had already acquired all shares in the Dutch Maja Stuwadoors Groep, thereby taking full control of the Vlothaven bulk cargo terminal in the port of Amsterdam. This terminal has a 215 m long quay wall with a draught of 11.50 m. In future, both Amsterdam terminals will be brought together under the Maja Stuwadoorsgroep brand.
“For us,” says Vincenzo Romeo, CEO of Nova Marine Carriers, “the path of vertical integration of our sea transport activities and port logistics continues with now clearly defined objectives: to expand control over the entire supply chain and to make investments that are characterized by strategic relevance and high technological and operational standards.”
Nova Marine operates a fleet of more than 100 vessels between 5,000 and 66,000 tdw. In addition, more than a dozen newbuildings are in the order book. The company, owned by the Romeo and Gozzi families, specializes in bulk transport in the Mediterranean, Atlantic and Middle East as well as in Italian and European coastal shipping. In the last five years, the group has also been active in the field of port logistics through a series of strategic investments.
