A new face at Alfa Laval

Martin Bergink is to become the new President of the Marine Division at Swedish supplier Alfa Laval.

The company, known for its technologies in exhaust and wastewater treatment, announced that Bergink will assume the role on September 1, succeeding Sameer Kalra.

Bergink currently serves as President of the Business Unit “Pumping Systems” within the Marine Division and is also the Managing Director of Framo, an Alfa Laval-owned company. He will continue in both roles while taking on his new responsibilities.

Bergink joined Alfa Laval in 1998 and has since held several senior positions within the company, mainly in the Marine Division. In his new role, he will become a member of Group Management.

“Martijn has had a long and successful career at Alfa Laval and has a deep knowledge and understanding of the dynamics and developments in the marine industry,” said Tom Erixon, CEO and President of Alfa Laval.

“I am honored and excited by the opportunity to lead the Marine Division. I look forward to further developing the business to meet future customer needs as we continue on the path of decarbonization and seize the opportunities ahead,” said Bergink himself.

In 2024, Alfa Laval’s Marine Division accounted for 40% of the order intake. It employs 6,300 of the Group’s 22,300 employees.

Kalra will retire “after a long and successful time at Alfa Laval”. He joined Alfa Laval when the company acquired Aalborg Industries in 2011 and has reportedly been “instrumental in its continued growth and success” as well as in the development of products and technologies.

“It has been a great privilege to lead the transformation of the Marine Division through the ongoing energy transition,” Kalra said. “I have really enjoyed being part of the team on this journey. Now I am looking forward to spending more time with my family from my home in Singapore.”

CEO Erixon emphasized, “Sameer Kalra leaves the Marine Division and the Marine team in very good shape to continue his journey. He has shaped the business, the portfolio and our culture like no other.”
